本試片使用側向流免疫層析技術之原理，希望作為臨床醫師在照護新冠肺炎病患時，快速預測病患病情嚴重程度之工具。技術整合IL-6檢測試片與可攜式微量快篩分析儀來量化新冠肺炎病患血清IL-6濃度，幫助臨床醫師預測呼吸衰竭及診斷細胞激素釋放症候群，可及早插管、使用呼吸器及使用抗IL-6製劑治療。在大規模感染發生時，也可藉由檢測來區分病患嚴重度，並調度呼吸器，有助於醫療機構在有限資源下提供整體病患最適切的治療。
The Hygeia Touch IL-6 Test Kit can help the clinicians to assess the severity of COVID-19 patients. The test strip is based on the technique of lateral flow immunoassay, and is able to identify the amount of Interleukin-6 (IL-6) in patient serum. The result of the test strip is then being recorded by the reader in order to digitalize into numerical data, which refers to the amount of IL-6 in patient serum. Clinicians can be able to predict disease progression through test strip result and decide whether to take further action such as intubation.
